Yay!!! Fall is here, which, in Texan, is code for chambray flannels and over-saturated, orange filters to make those leaves look a little more "Vermont-esque." Darn, the secret's out...

Since autumn is a transitional season in my mind, that means there are a lot of awkward weather moments. The other day, temperatures here in Austin dropped to 75ºF, and I threw on a chunky turtle neck and heavy denim jeans. By the end of the day, my mascara was smeared all over my eyes, and it was one of the few times in my life that a cumbersome fashion statement wasn't exactly worth the trouble. So, I set out to ensure that none of you might make the same suffocating mistake, and I thought up a few ways to nod festively to fall without compromising your autumnal style.

Dedicate half of your outfit to the season. Tights and a corduroy skirt on the bottom, lacy camisole on top. Wrap dress on the top (I like the burgundy shade best in that dress I linked), knee-high boots on the bottom. Or in my case above, a fall-colored flannel with suede booties and jean shorts.

Since these looks are a bit more casual, they can easily be dressed up with a nice purse. The one I'm donning above (shop it here) was actually from my first brand collaboration ever, from Coach. Since it's such a timeless piece, it's back again this season! This Chloe bag is also totally making me swoon right now.
