Valentine's Day (Sans Rouge)
February has always been one of my favorite months. With Valentine’s Day, Super Bowl Sunday, Mardis Gras, award show season, and birthday parties galore, every weekend seems like another reason to celebrate (and, of course, if you’re like me, another excuse to spend this month’s designated grocery money on a cute new outfit). Halfway through this month-long game of dress-up, however, I realized that my default dress color tends to be the same shade every time: bright red. It’s certainly an eye-catcher, but sometimes, a subtle touch of elegance can be just as striking. This Valentine’s Day, I decided to go a different route.
On a romantic occasion, one can never go wrong with lace. Aiming for something equally fun and feminine, I tucked a delicate, white lace pencil dress underneath a black tulle skirt (there’s nothing more romantic than an effortless twirl)! I complemented the outfit with a sleek pair of Louboutins and pearl bracelets, channeling a more classic look for my favorite holiday. I used my pink bowed Ted Baker makeup bag as a clutch for the night, which lent some saturation and made for the perfect V-Day accessory. Allowing myself one exception, I applied my favorite NARS matte red lip crayon (in the shade “Dragon Girl”) to seal it all together!
