Stripes For Spring
As I was just about to publish this post, my roommate announced to me that it was National Stripes Day. Of all the made up national holidays, this one has to be my favorite!
The spring season is something of an awakening to the fashion community. I watch every March as beauty bloggers shed their vinyl leggings and fur-lined maxi dusters for gingham ruffles and floral flats. Like clockwork, they emerge from the shadows of their picturesque winter wonderland Instagram feeds to embrace the extra hour of daylight and an abundance of feed-worthy wildflowers. Simply put, spring fashion is ridiculously predictable. At the same time, however, maybe that’s because we never really grow tired of seeing the same things every March, April, and June.
In lieu of florals this year, I’ve found myself fascinated most with stripes. (I know what you’re thinking -- revolutionary!) Funny enough, in my abstract painting class this week, we were assigned a striped painting. I wore this dress to the critique on Wednesday (it coincidentally matched my painting stripe for stripe), and I’m pretty sure it was the first time my professor ever complimented me…
Pastels have always been a love of mine, as well, so this Kate Spade dress was clearly a winner. It has a very 1960s fit (cinched waist, poofy skirt), which is my absolute favorite style. Timeless, twirlable, and totally Easter appropriate. Spring style just never gets old!
