Best Lilly Pulitzer Pieces for Spring
Lilly Pulitzer and collegiate blonde girls go together like Kylie Jenner and acrylic nails; it’s as if, without one, the other would simply cease to exist. Lilly dresses have that unique, recognizable pattern to them, making them a statement piece on their own. That being said, I rewear them sparingly throughout the year, usually pulling one out for a special summer occasion or, of course, Spring Break.
Every March, my family makes its annual pilgrimage to Seaside, Florida (probably the birthplace of the tube socks and Sperrys combo that’s so near and dear to our hearts). If you’ve never had the chance to venture to that side of marshlands, I’ll describe it in three terms to you: aviators, Greek letter window decals, and pastel boating shorts. Essentially, it’s as if every fraternity and sorority in the Southern United States got together for a weeklong, color coordinated sleepover. AKA, the very purpose of Lilly Pulitzer’s existence.
With Easter weekend almost here, I thought it would be fun to show you all my favorite Lilly looks that I brought with me to Seaside. The strapless blue dress was actually the outfit I wore to my mother’s wedding a few years back. My favorite thing about Lilly Pulitzer is that they cater to more sizes of women than your average department store. I have a fairly small frame, so it’s very difficult for me to find dresses that fit (especially strapless ones, let’s be real), but these three fit me absolutely perfectly!
The cool-toned shift dress is another favorite of mine. I’ve been all about the shift lately (they’re so easy to wear, and I love how 1960s mod they look with the right accessories). I rented this one from Rent the Runway and loved how simple it was. If I could keep it year-round, this dress of the three would be the one I’d wear the most frequently. It’s fairly casual and muted enough to be worn repeatedly through the spring and summer seasons.
The more vibrantly patterned spaghetti strapped dress is my newest addition to the collection. I was emailed a day before leaving for Spring Break that my Rent the Runway dresses wouldn’t be shipped until I was already in Florida, so I was in a bit of a panic mode, trying to find a colorful, fun piece for those obligatory, dressy family dinners. Funny enough, however, my mom was at Lilly Pulitzer when I found all of this out, and the sales staff overheard. Next thing I knew, they were texting me pictures of their entire new spring line. “This is the one all the girls are obsessing over right now,” they told me. So I bought it, and it fit like a glove! Perfect for beach vacations, summer getaways, and everything in between!
