Summer Whites in Versailles
As summer draws near, lightweight fabrics like linen and lace approach the forefront of our closets. Before heading to Paris, I stopped by my absolute favorite store in the Domain right now, Planet Blue, to add a few flowier garments to my packing pile. The selection there is primarily bohemian; think “Free People meets BHLDN.” I loved their summer line, including this white linen frock I snatched from their “just-in” rack. I paired it with a navy and straw boater hat, which is currently my number one accessory for traveling.
I found that my favorite spots in Paris were actually the gardens, especially the hedge mazes of Versailles. Somewhere in the middle of all the greenery, Forrest and I stumbled upon a little pond, where we had the pleasure of meeting a very photogenic swan and her adoring little babies. She swam right up to me and lingered for a little while Forrest took a few pictures; I’m convinced she mistook me for one of her own, considering my dress matched her so well!
Even with two layers of fabric, I stayed pretty cool throughout the day. While lemon prints, seersucker, and vibrant gingham are all on my horizon for summer trends, white linen remains a classic, repeat offender for warm-weather-worthy ensembles.
