The Perfectly Parisian Boater Hat
Because Paris was always my dream trip, I found myself envisioning what I'd wear there since I was a little girl. Surprisingly, the outfits always looked the same in my head, no matter how old I was when I was daydreaming about them. Two-toned, slingback heels, a boater hat, and pearl earrings were always part of the picture. When I started shopping for my trip, I knew it was really the accessories that would make the outfits, so I spent a good amount of time making sure I got the details right.
I wasn't 100% sold on the Chanel slingbacks (they're quite expensive and I knew I would be doing miles of walking every day), so I found a nearly identical pair online that I've linked below (far cheaper and a great find)! Boater hats have a similar air of classicality to them, and I've always viewed them as the perfect traveling accessory; for some reason, they just look very "girl travels world" to me! I purchased this one at Nordstrom, and I love it because it has an adjustable interior. I bought my dress from Planet Blue, which, if you haven't read some of my previous posts, is my favorite store right now. The quality of their dresses is incomparable, and I knew I wanted to be walking around in something that both looked and felt good.
I brought along a pair of ED sneakers for the walk, but I found that anything (even a tennis shoe) rubbing against my heel would give me terrible blisters by the end of the day. Funny enough, the slingbacks were actually the most comfortable pair of shoes I brought on the trip, because the back strap on the heel could be moved above or below my ankle to avoid too much tension in the same spot.
