Back To School Style

For the first day back to school, I chose a J. Crew denim skirt and an off-the-shoulder striped top. The whole look struck me as a little old school, which I loved! The shirt I'm wearing also reminded me of the classic, striped Barbie swimsuit - iconic! It was such an easy outfit to wear, and I'm glad to have these new layering pieces in my wardrobe for fall. Since I've never been one to spend money on every day, monochromatic t-shirts, I find stripes to be a fun alternative.

My Tuesday look was probably my favorite of the bunch. I don't do casual very often, so I'm probably just a little excited that I did it well! One of the reasons I gravitate toward dresses more is because I have such an impossible time finding shorts that fit me (a very real dilemma for a Texan)! A week or two ago, though, I went to Nordstrom with the intention of finding the perfect jean shorts. There's nothing worse than having to walk around all day in shorts that are uncomfortably tight and show just a little too much. I found these Levis, and they're one of a kind! I don't have to pull them down every ten steps, and I love the cuffed bottoms! I wore them with a belt and bag from Target, and this super comfy striped shirt and floral neckscarf from Anthropologie. The top is sold out, but I've linked a couple similar pieces below!

Since Mondays and Wednesdays are my busy days, I wore a more walkable, less accessorized outfit than Tuesday's. I bought this top and shorts at Zara last summer, and it's one of my favorite looks to put together. One of my favorite trends right now is a perfectly pointed Peter Pan collar. This top certainly made the cut!

It might sound a little unlikely, but this Target dress is my absolute favorite dress to wear. Since I have a smaller frame, it's difficult to find clothes in my size, but this dress fits like a glove. I can't tell if it's because of the halter top straps or the fit-and-flare shape that makes it such an easy wear, but I absolutely love it! It's a great transitional dress, as well; I wore it to my Thursday class and then paired it with these '40s-esque, triple strap heels (and some red lipstick) for dinner with my girlfriends later that evening. The shoes are also from Target!
